Our campuses close on Friday 20th December and re-open on Thursday 2nd January 2025 for the Christmas Break.

Students will return to timetabled lessons on Monday 6th January 2025.

Volunteer Artist Resident

Colchester Institute is seeking creative practitioners to join our Art & Design department for the academic year 2024-25.  This is an exciting opportunity for local creatives to share their skills and knowledge in return for access to a creative community and use of a wide range of facilities and resources.

We particularly welcome individuals who have an interest in teaching and in fostering creativity in young people.

  1. Be present for at least 1 day, or 2 half days a week (schedule to be agreed upon appointment).
  2. Share your expertise through the delivery of workshops to both staff and students.
  3. Make use of the facilities and/or studio space to develop your own creative practice on a regular basis.
  4. Adhere to and promote the College’s Safeguarding, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, College Values and Health and Safety policies and practices.
  5. Ensure good health and safety practices by adhering to local area codes of practices and all other related College Health & Safety policies, including completion of Portable Appliance Testing on electrical equipment.
  1. Professional equipped printmaking workshops (with provision for screen printing, letterpress, textile printmaking, risograph, intaglio and relief).
  2. Professional equipped 3D workshops (with access to woodworking, metal work and plastics processes).
  3. High Spec computer suites with Adobe CC software.
  4. Professionally equipped Ceramics workshop (with access to pottery wheel, casting, glasswork, and a variety of kilns).
  5. Professionally equipped Photography studios and darkrooms.
