University Centre Colchester | Construction

Engineers play a significant role in solving problems faced by industry and society. As technology evolves, so does the creation of numerous specialisms within the engineering sector, such as mechanical; electrical; automation; design; sustainability; simulation; Lean manufacturing; management and power and nuclear engineering.

You will expand your problem-solving abilities and develop key analytical and transferable skills. You will gain an understanding of core engineering skills including maths, science, engineering principles and computer-aided design (CAD). There is a clear progression pathway through to degree level exploring
further technical input and managerial concepts.

Each level of study is 18 months in duration (three semesters), one day per week. Apprenticeship routes include Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician and Level 6 Manufacturing Engineer.

Reasons to study with us:

  • Degree validated by University of East Anglia (UEA)
  • Progression from HNC, HND to degree level aligned with apprenticeship programmes
  • Access to specialist resources and industry-standard software
  • Choice of mechanical and electrical pathways
  • Available to study part-time

University Centre Colchester was the only place offering Level 4 and above for this course. The lecturers are what I like most about studying here. My plan is to continue my apprenticeship and do the degree top-up.”
