This course is aimed at any prospective student who wishes to progress onto an apprenticeship, but does not meet the relevant entry criteria for a course, or needs to develop the necessary work based learning skills.

This apprenticeship is ideal for team members who assist with financial tasks and undertake junior accounting duties. Apprentices will learn foundation bookkeeping and accounting software skills. Accounts or finance assistants may work in-house for an organisation or they might work for an accountancy firm, bookkeeping practice, Shared Service provider, self-employed or on behalf of several different clients. This qualification will qualify apprentices for roles including Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Credit Control Assistant or Purchase Ledger Clerk.

Adult Care Workers need to have the right values, behaviours and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support. They are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives, which is at the heart of person-centred care. Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings.

The primary role of an assistant accountant is to provide support to internal and external customers and will work within a practice or the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day-to-day financial activities such as data entry to month-end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the assistant accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.

Every project needs to be managed to ensure its success, an associate project manager knows what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved, how long it will take and how much it will cost, and works with the project team to achieve the required outcomes. Dependent upon the size of the organisations and the complexity of projects, associate project managers’ job titles will vary, but typically they can include: assistant project manager, junior project manager, project team leader. Some organisations use ‘project manager’ as a generic job title.

AAn Autocare Technician carries out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles, working in an Autocare or “Fast-Fit” Centre, which may be part of a national chain or operated by a regional/local independent group/owner. An Autocare Technician requires a unique combination of technical, retail and customer service skills. They will use a range of tools, measuring and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair simple system faults.

The core skills required to be demonstrated include the likes of health and safety, working to commercial standards, following instructions (written and verbal), planning work and selecting appropriate materials. To develop these skills apprentices will attend college for one day per week to gain the appropriate knowledge and practical skill requirements in order to be able to work effectively as a site carpenter or architectural joiner.

Successful apprentices will achieve a degree in BA Hons Business and Management and full chartered membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI).

A chef de partie is responsible for running a specific section of the kitchen such as a fish, starter, sauce, sauté or vegetable section with minimal or no support from peers buts work inline to the senior chefs requirements. The Commercial Procurement and Supply apprenticeship is aimed at existing or new members of staff in the procurement and supply chain sector. Achieving the Level 4 in Procurement and Supply will enable an individual to use their breadth and depth of experience to position themselves as a fully effective commercially skilled professional with transferable skills and career options spanning multiple sectors.

A commis chef is the most common starting position in many kitchens and in principal the most junior culinary role. A commis chef prepares food and carries out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of a more senior chef. The primary objective of the commis chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen.

To work as a dental nurse it is essential to complete a qualification that is recognised by the General Dental Council (GDC). Successful completion of this qualification will allow you to register with the GDC and work as a dental nurse. The Higher Apprenticeship framework for Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at Level 4 has been designed to provide the manufacturing and engineering sector with high grade technicians and engineers who have practical skills, combined with a higher education qualification. The broad purpose of the occupation is to provide specialist technical support for engineers, so that organisations can develop, produce or test new/existing products, processes, or procedures to meet a customer specification.

Engineering Technicians in the Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Maritime Defence and the wider advanced Manufacturing and Engineering sector are predominantly involved in highly skilled and complex work. Engineered and manufactured products and systems that an Engineering Technician works on could involve mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and fluid power components/systems.

An Event Assistant is an entry level position, typically working within a team of people in an events company or within the events department of a larger organisation. The role would usually provide support to a number of Event Planners or Project Managers by carrying out a diverse range of tasks necessary to plan, organise and deliver an event.

General Welders are fully competent in manual welding using at least one arc process. General Welders are required in a number of sectors for example, the steel work construction sector. There is a highly complex range of welding skills: the different arc welding processes require different levels of manual dexterity, knowledge and skill to avoid making defective welds. There are a wide range of metallic materials that can be welded, each with different properties and behaviours.

This qualification is ideal for individuals who work as an operative in the construction sector, laying drainage, kerbs, channels and pavements.

Hospitality supervisors work across a wide variety of businesses including bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. They provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts.  The hospitality supervisor apprenticeship is built to develop a successful team member into a Specialist Team Leader or Management role.

A hospitality team member can work in a range of establishments, for example bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. Specialist areas in hospitality include food and beverage service, serving alcoholic beverages, barista, food preparation, housekeeping, concierge and guest services, reception, reservations and conference and banqueting.

Senior People Professionals may specialise in either Human Resources (HR), Learning and Development (L&D) or Organisation Development (OD). This Apprenticeship Occupational Standard takes a core and options approach.

HR Professionals in this role are typically either working in a medium to large organisation as part of the HR function delivering front line support to managers and employees, or are a HR Manager in a small organisation. Successful completion of this standard will enable the individual to apply for Associate Membership (Assoc CIPD) of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional body for the HR sector, if they take the qualifications suggested.

The Level 3 Information Communications Technician (ICT) apprenticeship is designed for apprentices looking for a career in the operation of IT and/or telecommunications systems, including hardware and software. The primary role of a Information Communications Technician is to support internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their jobs, by using tools to problem solve and troubleshoot non-routine problems.

Electricians will use engineering knowledge and understanding to apply their technical and practical skills. They will contribute to the design, development, manufacture, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, processes, systems or services.

The overall purpose of the Junior Animator’s role is to create animated assets and content, producing the motions, gestures, expressions and performance of two or three dimensional characters and inanimate objects depending on the directors and/or employer’s wishes. This apprenticeship supports and develops careers found in the British and International animation industries, providing animated content for film, television, advertising, games, corporate and immersive reality.

The Lead Practitioner in Adult Care will guide and inspire team members to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges. They will have achieved a level of self-development to be recognised as a lead practitioner within the care team, contributing to, promoting and sustaining a values-based culture at an operational level.

A Leader in Adult Care has responsibility for managing community or residential based services. This role has a large element of leadership, whether with other care workers and networks or in leading the service itself. They have a responsibility to ensure the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and well-led. They may be a registered manager of a service, unit, deputy or assistant manager.

Machining Technicians in the advanced Manufacturing and Engineering sector are predominantly involved in highly skilled and complex work. They use a variety of machines to carry out their work. For example, centre lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, horizontal and cylindrical grinding machines, Electro discharge machines, single and multi-axis Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machine tools centres, Gear cutting and Gear Grinding machines.

A Manufacturing Engineer will primarily support the activities involved in bringing design programmes into manufacture. This role is pivotal to the planning, launch and smooth delivery of exciting new products or product refresh programmes. Typically Manufacturing Engineers work closely with a range of other engineers, functions and managers both within their own company and supplier base.

A Metal Fabricator is found in the advanced manufacturing engineering and engineering construction sectors. The broad purpose of the occupation is to carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc. Work includes manufacturing bridges, oil rigs, ships, petro-chemical installations, cranes, platforms, aircraft, automotive and machinery parts, sheet metal enclosures, equipment supports, and anything that can be fabricated out of metal.

The Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Intermediate Apprenticeship programme is designed to give you the relevant training and education required to become a successful employee within the motor industry. A motor vehicle service and maintenance technician services and repairs light vehicles such as cars and vans and works either in dealerships which focus on a particular manufacturer, or in an independent garage which deals with many different makes of vehicles.

Tackling a wide range of emergency situations such as tackling fires, searching, rescuing and protecting people and animals.

An operations/departmental manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy. Ideally this is generally someone who is able to manage teams and/or projects, and has responsibility for planning, delivering and achieving organisational goals and objectives. Mixing both strategic and operational leadership and management, this course is designed to help drive innovation, change and action within an organisation.

This apprenticeship enables existing or new employees to develop their existing HR skills, providing HR expertise within a company or organisation and contains options for HR specialisms and management responsibilities. This role could be called an People Professional, HR Consultant or an HR Business Partner in different organisations. Individuals in this role will use their HR expertise to provide and lead the delivery of HR solutions to business challenges, together with tailored advice to the business in a number of HR areas, typically to mid-level and senior managers.

An intensive and practical course designed to give you the relevant knowledge and experience to understand the installation of domestic plumbing systems. Plumbing and domestic heating engineers can find themselves working inside or outside a property. Customer service skills and being tidy and respectful are important qualities as they can often find themselves working in customers’ homes as well as on building sites.

The Procurement and Supply Apprenticeship is aimed at existing or new members of staff in the procurement and supply chain sector. This qualification is great for anyone starting out in the sector. Through the apprenticeship, you will develop the knowledge to understand demand management, arrange supply logistics and implement new contracts.

Production chefs work as part of a team in time-bound and often challenging kitchen environments, for example; schools, hospitals, the Armed Forces, care homes and high street casual dining or pub kitchens. Production chefs are likely to work with centrally developed standardised recipes and menus, producing food often in high volumes. They apply highly methodical organisational skills, energy, accuracy, attention to detail and are mindful of the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment.

Individuals in the role of a Professional Accounting / Tax Technician will have responsibility for creating, and / or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation.

A Senior Leader influences at a higher organisational level, including sometimes at Board (or equivalent) level, and sets the culture and tone across their area of responsibility
