Applicants will receive an email from our admissions team on Wednesday 13th August containing the below information.
We are excited to give you more information about the next stages of your enrolment to Colchester Institute!
You need to read this carefully and get yourself ready to start the process on GCSE Results Day, Thursday 21st August. Please check your emails next Thursday morning ready to do this, even if you are not getting GCSE results, or if you have studied at Colchester Institute before, you must still take action on that day to secure your place.
Important Note: To complete your enrolment you will need to sign into your application account – we recommend that you try to log in now to make sure you can get in – if you have any difficulties or need to reset your password you can call our admissions team on 01206 712777 between 8.30am and 5pm for assistance.
There are three stages you need to go through to enrol so please read the information below so that you are prepared.
Stage 1
On Thursday 21st August we will send you an email with a link to sign into your account and upload the three things below.
It will be much easier for you if you get ready for this in advance.
- Upload evidence of all your exam results, this must include this year’s results if you are taking them, and all other exams from previous years, even if you have submitted them to us before.
This applies to all applicants even if you have achieved your qualifications in previous years or been a student with us in the past.
If you already have exam results dig these out now and take photographs and save them on your device so that you are ready to upload them. Make sure that your name is visible and the grades are clear!
If you are waiting for results, as soon as you get them you must take a photo or screenshot of all the information, your name, subjects and grades, and save this on your phone/device.
When you have these ready, check for your email on Thursday 21st August, and sign into your account ready to upload them. To be in the priority group for enrolment you must complete this stage by 2pm on Friday 22nd August, so that your results can be reviewed by teaching staff. If you miss this deadline you must still upload your results, but if your chosen course is full you may not secure a place.
Note: If you have studied with us before, or you have already uploaded your ID photo and evidence of your Identity, you do not need to do items B and C again, but you will need to upload exam results.
- Upload a photograph of yourself for your ID card (if not already provided)
You are strongly advised to prepare for this by selecting a suitable photo now and saving it on the device that you will use to start your enrolment, this could be your phone, laptop or tablet.
This photo must show your face looking into the camera, with no face covering, hat or hood, and close enough to take up most of the image, see these examples
- Upload proof of your Identity (if not already provided)
As part of the enrolment process students are required to provide one form of official identity. This should be a photograph of one of the following documents:
- Passport (please take a photo of the photo page)
- Driving Licence
- National Insurance Card/Official Letter confirming NI number
- National ID card
- Birth/Adoption Certificate
Stage 2
Once your uploaded results have been reviewed by the teaching team, they will confirm whether you have met the published entry criteria for your chosen course. This might not be on the same day that you upload your results so don’t worry if you don’t hear straight away, if you have met the priority deadline this will be done on or by Tuesday 26th August.
If you have been successful and your place is confirmed you will be sent a confirmation email which will ask you to sign back into your account for the final time to complete your enrolment. At this stage, you need to check and update your personal information and complete your enrolment online within 3 working days.
When this is fully completed you will get an acknowledgement email to confirm your enrolment.
Stage 3 You will be sent information about when your course starts and where and when you need to go for your first day at college after the Bank Holiday weekend.
Important Information
Our enrolment process is fully online and there will not be the opportunity to come onto campus to enrol, so the better prepared you are now, the quicker and easier it will be.
So, take pictures of your existing exams results now, save them onto your phone, laptop or tablet, and then be ready to take your next steps on Thursday 21st August when GCSE exams results are published. If you are waiting for exam results then Good Luck from all of us!
