Mentoring Training

This course is designed for those working in a company who will be taking on the responsibility of being a mentor, supporting the learning and development of other members of staff who are undertaking training.

The course provides the specialist skills required and provides a framework to work within for both the Mentor and those they are supporting (Mentee’s).

Course Overview

This mentoring course provides delegates with the required skills to effectively mentor with confidence. On the day we use structured mentoring techniques to provide delegates with a complete understanding of how to mentor and ensure that their mentee achieve success with their goals.

We tailor each course to reflect the needs of the individual delegates and your business. We use a combination of theory, exercises and real-life work scenarios to support the learning.

Meet our trainer

Steve Favell

In the 70’s, at the same time as being in high demand as an accomplished musician, Steve Favell developed what became one of the County’s most successful music retail, wholesale companies. Steve went on to build, train and mentor a number of the UK’s most successful national sales teams.
He went on to join Huntingdonshire Regional College and grew their commercial income by more than 1.5 million.
Steve has established himself as an expert in personal development training. Steve says “I’m extremely proud to be working in partnership with Colchester Institute. Being an effective mentor is a teachable skill that changes peoples lives and is the key to long term business success.”

Course Outcome

By the end of the session delegates will:

  • Understand the difference between a Mentor, Coach and Counsellor
  • Understand your roles and responsibilities as a Mentor and what mentoring is
  • Have a clear vision of what your relationship with your Mentee should be and how to control that
  • Know what you need to do to be an effective Mentor
  • Have the knowledge to put in place a structured training program and monitor/assist your mentees progress
  • Be able to create an environment for a successful Mentoring relationship
  • Know how to agree and set clear objectives with measurable outcomes
  • Be able to build rapport and confidence with your Mentee
  • Understand how to motivate your Mentee
  • Know how to review the progress of the Mentoring Programme to make sure the needs of the Mentee are being met
