BPEC Plumbing Qualifications – Unvented Hot Water

As a BPEC accredited training and assessment centre we are dedicated to offering a quality service to all who work within the Building Services Engineering sector. Our purpose built facilities allow us to offer a range of short courses that are suitable for experienced plumbing operatives seeking to expand their industry knowledge and gain an additional qualification to comply with current legislation.

These courses are aimed at plumbing and heating engineers who want to install Domestic Vented and Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems. The courses are designed to enable operatives to demonstrate their competence and allow either application to join a Competent Persons’ Scheme to ‘self-certify’ installations, or to notify the local Building Control Department prior to commencing work. The course covers relevant aspects of Approved Document G, Part L1 and Part P of the Building Regulations.

How to Apply
Initial Training

This initial training and assessment package takes place over one day. It is aimed at practicing plumbing and heating engineers who already have an understanding of the fundamental requirements of hot and cold water systems and central heating systems. The qualification is recognised by Competent Person’s Schemes which allow operatives to self-certify installations under Approved Document G3.

Prerequisites

Applicants must either hold a recognised formal plumbing/heating qualification or provide evidence of a number of years’ experience in either conventional heating engineering or plumbing.

Assessment Information

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations. Certificates are normally valid for 5 years. On expiry, candidates are eligible to take reassessment.

Reassessment

This reassessment course is a half day refresher designed for candidates whose qualification due to expire or has expired within the last 12 months. Upon successful completion operatives will receive an Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems certificate issued by BPEC.

Prerequisites

Previous certificates must be presented to the assessment centre as evidence of holding the initial qualification. Candidates cannot undertake the reassessment if their current certificate is more than 12 months out of date – if this is the case they must undertake the initial assessment.

Assessment takes the form of a theory examination and certificates are normally valid for 5 years.
